Blog Post 4 - Creativity

For this creativity exercise, I explored a brainstorming activity called “random word association,” which is used to generate new ideas by connecting unrelated concepts. I found this exercise online and applied it to a design task using Adobe InDesign.

For the exercise, I selected random words such as “nature,” “easter,” and “family” and used them as inspiration to design a simple poster layout in InDesign. The goal was to visually represent these ideas through typography, shapes, and composition.

At first, it was challenging because the words did not seem related. However, as I started experimenting with layout, colors, and type, I was able to combine the ideas into a single design. I focused on using contrast, spacing, and alignment to create a balanced composition.

From this exercise, I learned that creativity can come from unexpected places. It also helped me understand how to use Adobe InDesign more freely, without overthinking the process. I improved my ability to experiment and develop ideas visually.

This activity showed me that creative exercises are useful for improving design thinking and building confidence when working with new concepts.
