Blog Post 2 - Creativity

Blog Post 2 - Creativity For this creativity exercise, I used an idea called a “bucket list,” where you write things you have never done before or never really thought about doing. This activity is commonly used in classrooms to help students think outside their normal routines and explore new ideas. According to this example, the goal is to come up with different experiences that push you out of your comfort zone and make you think creatively. For my exercise, I created my own list of new things I would like to try, some of my ideas included learning basic coding, creating my first website, designing something original in Adobe Illustrator, or starting a small business project. At first, it was hard to think of many ideas, but after a few minutes, I started to think more freely and come up with more creative and different options. This showed me that sometimes creativity takes time and practice. From this exercise, I am starting to understand that creativity is not just about ar...

Blog Post 2 - Design

Blog Post 2 - Design Copyright is a law that protects original creative work like images, logos, fonts, videos, and designs. It means that the person who creates something owns it, and others cannot use it without permission. This is very important in design because we are always working with visual elements that may belong to someone else. During this week’s project, I am starting to understand how copyright connects directly to design. As a beginning student, this is something new for me, and I am realizing that not everything online is free to use. Even simple things like images or fonts can have rules about how they are used. This project is helping me become more aware of where design materials come from and why it matters to respect them. Instead of just focusing on making something look good, I am also thinking about using resources the right way and being more careful with what I choose. This experience is showing me that design is not only about creativity, but also abou...

blog post 1- design

Blog post 1- design One thing I am already understanding is that web programming is not just about code—it is also about design. A good website needs to look organized, be easy to use, and guide the user. Even simple things like layout, spacing, and colors can change how a website feels. As a beginner, I think one of the most important parts will be learning how everything connects. For example, how the structure of a page (HTML), the style (CSS), and the interaction (JavaScript) all work together to create a complete experience. I also know that I will probably make mistakes at the beginning, but that is part of the process. Learning web programming seems like something that takes time and practice, especially when you are starting from zero like me. I am looking forward to this class because I want to understand how websites are created and how I can design my own in the future. I feel like this is an important skill, especially in today’s digital world.

Blog post 1 creativity

Blog post 1 creativity For this month’s Web Programming class, I completed a creativity exercise called the  “Alternative Uses Exercise.” What I Did I chose a simple object, a  paper clip , and set a timer for 2 minutes. My goal was to write as many uses as possible without overthinking. At first, my ideas were basic, but then I started thinking more creatively and came up with different uses like a phone stand or small tool. What I Learned This exercise taught me that: Creativity takes practice There are no wrong ideas Thinking fast helps generate more ideas This activity helped me feel more confident and showed me that creativity is a skill I can improve, even in web programming.

Learn & Share #4

Learn & Share #4 How to Create a Magazine Design in Adobe InDesign   I learned how to set up a magazine layout using columns and margins to keep everything organized. I learned how to use guides and grids to align text and images correctly. I learned how to place images and adjust them so they fit well inside the layout. I learned how to combine headlines, body text, and images to create a clear visual hierarchy. I learned how to design a clean and professional magazine page step by step using InDesign tools. How to Create a Brochure Design in Adobe InDesign I learned how to set up a brochure document using the correct size and orientation for a tri-fold layout.  I learned how to divide the page into columns to match the folds of the brochure.  I learned how to place and organize text and images inside each section of the brochure.  I learned how to design each panel differently depending on its purpose (cover, inside content, back).  I learned how ...

Blog Post 4 – Design

Blog Post 4 – Design In this project, I have been learning how to use Adobe InDesign to create a full cookbook layout. One of the most important things I learned is how to organize content in a clean and consistent way. Instead of just placing images and text, I had to think about structure, spacing, and how the reader moves through each page. I also learned how important consistency is in design. Using the same layout for each recipe, along with similar typography and spacing, helps the book feel more professional and easy to follow. Small details like margins, alignment, and hierarchy make a big difference in the final result. This project helped me understand that design is not only about making things look good, but also about making them clear, organized, and functional.

Blog Post 4 - Creativity

Blog Post 4 - Creativity For this creativity exercise, I explored a brainstorming activity called “random word association,” which is used to generate new ideas by connecting unrelated concepts. I found this exercise online and applied it to a design task using Adobe InDesign. For the exercise, I selected random words such as “nature,” “easter,” and “family” and used them as inspiration to design a simple poster layout in InDesign. The goal was to visually represent these ideas through typography, shapes, and composition. At first, it was challenging because the words did not seem related. However, as I started experimenting with layout, colors, and type, I was able to combine the ideas into a single design. I focused on using contrast, spacing, and alignment to create a balanced composition. From this exercise, I learned that creativity can come from unexpected places. It also helped me understand how to use Adobe InDesign more freely, without overthinking the process. I improve...
